San Diego State University maintenance called us in to help assist with a stubborn drain line in the Student Union Plaza. Upon arrival, the technicians were able to find a clean out in order to locate the true route of the mainline affected. After finding closer clean out access, the technicians were then able to effectively use a hydro jetter to restore flow back to this section of the mainline. This section is susceptible to frequent backups due to a section of cast iron mainline that is extremely built up with scale (calcified rust/debris on the interior walls of the cast iron pipe) so alternative long-term options were recommended after the drain cleaning service. These recommendations included a Cast Iron Chain Flail Descale Service, CIPP Epoxy Pipe Lining and, in the extensive measure, directly replacing the compromised section.
